MY REASON WHY
There is always a turning point, and this is mine.
Back in January 2022, we hiked Hartz Mountain in Southern Tasmania with our friends, Eva and her partner Mick. The intention was to summit the mountain peak.
Hartz Mountain is a Grade 4 track and is described as a 'robust walk', with the peak sitting 1254 metres high. Find out more about Hartz's Peak here
The track was well laid out with boardwalks, that quickly gave way to large stone steps, which over time put pressure on my knee. In the end, I couldn’t go on and I stopped just before the final summit. My husband and children carried on without me. I was incredibly disappointed. I had a few tears and whilst sitting there I made a vow to myself to go and get my knee checked out when I got home, as I am by no means a quitter. I cried many tears, sitting alone as the clouds came across and the rain pelted down. I also realised that hitting my midlife, I was overweight and I needed to do something, or otherwise life was going to pass me by.
